Spring Corporate Golf Day Season: How Far Ahead to Order Branded Balls
7 August 2026
From September through to the end of November, corporate golf days run almost every week somewhere in Australia — charity ambrose, client days, industry association shields, end-of-financial-year make-goods that got pushed. If you're organising one, the branded balls are the item most likely to be left too late.
Here's a timeline that actually works.
The ordering timeline
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| 6–8 weeks out | Lock player numbers (roughly), pick the ball, request your logo in vector format from whoever holds the brand files. |
| 4 weeks out | Place the order. Upload artwork and approve the free digital proof. |
| 2–3 weeks out | Balls printed and posted. Buffer sits here, not at the end. |
| Event week | Sleeves already sorted into carts. Nothing left to chase. |
The step that blows out is almost always artwork. A logo pulled off a website at 400 px wide won't print cleanly at 22 mm. Ask whoever holds the brand files for the vector version first, not last.
Budgeting per player
Work per player, not per dozen. A sleeve of three per player is the standard giveaway; a full dozen is a prize or a sponsor gift.
- Sponsor and prize balls — a premium ball earns its keep here. Chrome Tour or Pro V1.
- Field giveaways — value models keep the per-unit cost sensible across 100+ players. Callaway Warbird or Srixon AD333.
- Hole-in-one and nearest-the-pin — a single premium dozen, printed with the event name and year.
There's no minimum order and no setup or artwork fee, so a mixed order — value balls for the field, premium for the prize table — doesn't cost you extra in fees.
The tax angle
Branded balls given away at a golf day are generally deductible in a way the green fees and the bar tab are not. That's worth knowing when you're arguing for the line item. Plain-English detail in our guide to whether custom golf balls are tax deductible.
What to print on them
Keep it to one clear mark. A logo plus an event name plus a year plus a sponsor list turns into mud at 22 mm. Pick the logo, or the logo plus the year. If multiple sponsors need recognition, split the run — different sponsors on different sleeves reads better than cramming them onto one ball.
